Statement blazer > Plain blazer
Having stepped immediately from college to a trendy retail environment, it’s safe to say every blazer I own is this attention grabbing. I’ve got pastel-pink florals, sequins, leopard print, what I think may be a Naval Academy jacket and a cropped blazer that looks like it was made of couch upholstery. Come to think of it…I’m almost certain I don’t own a basic black blazer. (I should definitely change this.)
For the Conservative:
A statement blazer allows for clean and simple dressing underneath. Clean white tee, a tailored pant or slim cut denim, mules or a Chelsea boot. The blazer speaks for itself but you’re still the one in charge.
For the Bold:
Flex those styling muscles by pairing as many color and pattern combos as possible. A statement blazer is the fashionista’s best friend because it’s so easy to pop colors from the pattern to create a dynamic look. Minimally patterned skirt, tight layering top, over the knee boots.
I’m wearing my favorite resin bangles and earrings (my tips on wearing this trend here) to match my beanie and pull out the ambers and yellows in the blazer’s pattern. Whatever your style, there is room for a wild and funky blazer in your closet. Ready to take the plunge? Check out some of my favorites below.
