Tis the Season for Treason

Did you wait too long to get all your holiday shopping done? Well boo hoo for you, I was done in November and I feel no sympathy. Okay, I'm kidding but also, come on guys.  You know it's coming. We started listening to Christmas music the minute Halloween was over. Christmas comes on the same day every. year.

I like to think I can get all of my shopping in, plus see friends and family, bake cookies, buy and trim a tree, check out holiday lights, etc, but the reality of the situation can be significantly different. Even this year time got away from me! I may have finished the majority of my shopping weeks ago, decorated cookies and gone to three holiday parties but I failed to factor in time to purchase a tree and now my presents are going under my hammock chair that is covered in string lights.

Even with most of my list checked off there is always that one person. Y’know, the one who is hard to shop for and particular about the gifts they receive. You wait until the very end hoping the right gift will jump out at you and scream their name. I often think I am this person on my friends and family's list so can you imagine my excitement when this beautiful ‘Biddle’ backpack from The Treason Toting Company showed up at my door?

Founded in 2013 by two Baltimore natives, The Treason Toting Company boasts a variety of handmade backpacks, tote bags and duffles. These bags are wildly durable, practical and stylish - perfect for that hard to shop for person aka me. A true Baltimore company, the bags are not only manufactured in Baltimore, Maryland, but are also named after prominent Baltimore streets. Talk about supporting a truly local business!

The Biddle is a compact backpack but holds a surprising amount of items at one time.  This past weekend I fit my 13inch Macbook Pro, three small presents (about the size of my hand), a full cosmetic bag, glasses case and wallet plus a snack! It’s designed to stand upright when open (genius), has three interior pockets (one of which fits the computer), and a functioning brass buckle closure (the Biddle 2.0 has snaps in addition). Personally, I love the buckle for security even though it takes a bit longer to get in and out of the bag.  My only qualm would be that the Biddle lacks the side pockets found on it’s larger siblings, the Chase and the Charles. Honestly, I love the quality and the craftsmanship of Treason Toting Company so much I’m just going to get one of the larger bags as well.

If you have procrastinated on holiday shopping or are struggling with those final gifts why not support a USA-made, black-owned, small business this year and get your friends and family something they’ll use to carry their stories for years to come!
