There are only a few days out of the year where you can wear a crown in public and not look like a complete asshole so I'm not about to waste those days not wearing a crown. I'm a firm believer in living my best fashion and style life at all times and if that involves wearing a crown made from a vintage head piece and hand painted gold feathers....well...seems legit to me!
Not everyone celebrates their birthday the same way I did this year. In fact, I don't even celebrate my birthday the same way every year. Last year I had a small gathering of friends with drinks and dancing. The year before that, I took myself out to dinner alone and had a very enjoyable evening that finished with the bartenders singing me "Happy Birthday" accompanied by free cake. The point is, you don't need a big party or fancy outfit to feel special about your birthday. Being extra comes from the way you feel about yourself, confident and full of self love, and those feelings should carry over on all your un-birthdays as well. (But let's be honest here, I'm not going to pass up the chance to go shopping for a birthday outfit)
I want to thank everyone who wished me a happy birthday and/or joined in the festivities at Invite the Internet (my birthday and blog launch celebration combo). Huge thank you to The Bluebird Cocktail Room and Paul Benkert for hosting and being oh-so accommodating. If you haven't checked out this new literary-themed bar and lounge in Hampden, then you are missing out and you should go as soon as you are done with this post. Get the lamb meatballs.
